I want to share my findings for must-know things for digital nomads going for a short trip to Lisbon, Portugal.

Hopefully, this will save you some time Googling and shed some light on things you may want to know before going and while there.

I have never been to Lisbon before, and my calendar has been packed to the brim for the last few months, so naturally with all travel arrangements was left for the last hours - literally. My flight left in less than 24 hours.

Need I say that leaving all this to the last hours was not the best decision? Well, 

I also should mention that since my visit was during the WebSummit, which brought more than 70,000 people into a city with a population of 500,000, it was an unusual time.

Car sharing - not a thing in Lisbon. Taxis - is surprisingly affordable. Most of the 2-wheel options are often more expensive than taxis. Pavements - often awful for 2-wheels. Streetcars - super packed since it's one of the main attractions in Lisbon (😅). Verdict: 

 is likely a great, if not the best, option. // End of

I love car sharing, and I was stoked to find 

, but before you jump into the sign-up page, there is a major problem. – it turns out it's not available in Lisbon, at least not any longer. It used to be, and Google, along with App Store, seems to think that it is.

After some digging, I found that car sharing, in general, is not really a thing anymore in Lisbon. That said, if you're visiting during the warm weather season, you can jump on an electrical scooter. The service I found is called 

. The app seems to work fairly well and is easy and fast to sign up.

Most people likely will not to hear this, but for schmucks such as myself - 

do not leave booking your accommodation for the last minute

.😅 Especially, if travelling during major events like WebSummit.

Finding accommodation was a nightmare. Almost 6 hours later I was able to stitch together 3 different 

In some cities, there are incredible hostel options for a very reasonable price. Though I must say, often, the higher-end hostels can cost close to an Airbnb or, in extreme cases, even a hotel room.

I booked 3 places but left Lisbon early to meet my girlfriend in Valencia, so I ended up staying at only 2 of the three:

They have really good bed mattresses (to me, this is key), lockers (a little awkwardly placed in the bed area, but no biggie, really), a very cute garden/yard, a rooftop, a pool, yoga room, co-working space, honestly, this place was pretty amazing. Hoping to re-visit in the near future. The staff was nice, the place and the showers were clean, and the rooms were - 

 - modern. Plus, this hostel is located essentially in the heart of the old town.

The only downside, I would say, is the pricing of the breakfast; that said, the breakfast (

 for a hostel) is fantastic - elegant brunch-class worthy! 😎

Even though this hostel has an outdoor restaurant space-like yard with a bonus of a small jacuzzi-sized pool, as well as a co-working room, this hostel for me was a fairly 

 experience. Upon arrival, the en-suite bathroom reeked of god knows what (staff was forthcoming and offered an undisclosed solution (😅)), the spring mattresses were a-okay, but not great, also there were no lockers in the room. The beds had no curtains, so expect little-to-no privacy.

This was the third place, which I ended up skipping. I called them in hopes of getting at least a partial refund since I'm not arriving, they instructed me to send an email and explain, to which they replied requesting personal travel details along with a plane ticket to prove something to them, which I did, and as a response, they said they are not convinced and will not issue any refund. Candidly speaking, I'm not impressed and will unlikely go to WoT Hotels in the future.

When in a new city, even for a brief period, I always try to breeze through at least 3-5 most icon places. For Lisbon, I wanted to be realistic and not too-too rushed, so I've opted for these 3:

Possibly one of the most iconic streets, this colourful street takes warrants standing out from the crowd by just standing still for a few moments and soaking in the view...
